Youth ownership

Goals are optional. A young person may choose pathways, custom goals and milestones, edit them, pause, archive or resume without punitive scores or required deadlines.

Practice and saved accounts

Anonymous visitors reach /journey and explicitly enter practice. /my-journey is a separate signed-in scope. The current baseline does not establish reliable account lifecycle, persistence or recovery; account creation remains unavailable.

Practice a goal safely

  • Enter temporary practice explicitly.
  • Choose education, work or another pathway; use a fictional goal.
  • Review and change milestones.
  • Approve, reject or edit scripted suggestions—nothing is saved automatically by the guide.
  • Inspect optional single-goal sharing before enabling it.
  • Review progress; only the youth decides goal completion.
  • Exit or refresh to clear practice; inactivity also clears temporary practice.

Alex’s example

Fictional Alex, 19, chooses GED and employment goals. A technology barrier can be illustrated without recording an address or personal circumstances. Simulated staff review sees only an approved goal projection.

Reflections and collaboration

Private reflections are separate from goal data and do not automatically become staff case notes. Demonstrations never read saved-account tables. Operational legal/safeguarding exceptions must be defined and reviewed before launch.

Lost practice and reminders

Temporary entries are intentionally not recovered after exit, refresh or clearing. Reminder preferences are not proof of a scheduled message or notification service. Do not rely on practice for important records.

Operational dependencies

Saved-account verification requires approved identity, recovery, owner isolation, session lease and multi-account tests. Navigator collaboration needs verified scoped services and safeguarding approval.
